AFL26

Big Ant Studios // 2025

Officially released in May 2025, AFL26 is an Australian football simulation video game developed by Big Ant Studios, delivering an authentic and realistic gaming experience to Aussie-rules fans across the country. During this project I was responsible for leading front-end mockups and user flows for the entire game, whilst additionally contributing to dynamic UI designs and identities.

Approach

With a fast-tracked timeframe of 6 months to deliver the project, the main focus of the game’s user experience was to deliver an aesthetically-refined game interface whilst keeping user flows functionally familiar. I worked closely with the UI Artist to efficiently deliver mockups and user flows, through a comprehensive Figma project that involved creating and updating components, styles and screens.

Additionally, I regularly collaborated within cross-functional teams to deliver mockups and prototypes that brought game concepts to life. Working with game designers, programmers and quality-assurance testers, I helped deliver intuitive experiences for complex ideas from club management systems for the game’s career modes, to the mechanics of kicking a set-shot in-game.

In AFL26’s fast-tracked production I helped design:
  • A renewed main menu interactive experience
  • Comprehensive management screens for football teams
  • Intuitive career mode experiences for manager and player-focused role-playing simulations
  • The overall UI theme for AFL26 - maintaining the Figma project to deliver a cohesive design system.
  • A polished Pro Team navigation and interactive experience
